The moose permit lottery drawing is just a few days away, but who's counting? We can't wait for this year's drawing at the Acton Fairgrounds! This three day long festival is packed with family activities, live music, demonstrations from outdoor experts, food booths, and more.
Moose Permit Lottery Drawing
One of the most anticipated moments of the festival is the Maine Moose Permit Lottery Drawing, kicking off at 1pm at the Acton Fairgrounds. The Maine moose hunt is among the most coveted in the nation, with over 70,000 applications annually. Thousands will gather at this in-person event in hopes of hearing first hand their name drawn for one of only 4,105 permits. For the past few decades the Department has worked with communities across Maine to make this event a special experience for those who attend.
We ask that this time-honored tradition be respected by not live-streaming the event. The drawing will end at 5pm and lottery results will be posted online at mefishwildlife.com by 6pm for those who do not attend the festival.

Family Activities
A variety of fun activities for the whole family will lead up to the Moose Permit Lottery Drawing. Cheer on contestants in the Moose Calling Contest, and test your aim at the Fry Pan Toss Competition. And that’s just the beginning!
